Coater Department Manager

The Coater Manager is accountable for directing and managing all Coater Department production operations with responsibilities for safety, production, quality and other related activities, in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

Production

  • Develop, establish and implement long-term and short-term strategies, and operating policies to achieve established departmental goals and objectives.
  • Foster the development of employees in a positive, productive environment.
  • Establish appropriate metrics to measure process effectiveness and communicate Coater Department results.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles in own work performance and drive Lean application in Company operations.
  • Provide coaching, guidance and development opportunities for shift supervisors and other direct reports.

Administrative

  • Maintain production floor organization and plant cleanliness among all production employees
  • Maintain Kronos Timekeeping system
  • Administer vacation scheduling process.
  • Complete the annual performance evaluation of direct reports.
  • Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers and termination of employees.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime.
  • Provide detailed analysis of CJV items capturing the Pareto of the leading issues and drive improvement efforts using Six Sigma processes.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum four (4) year degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing management involving motivating, training, appraising and directing the efforts of staff required.
  • Experience working with multi-department responsibility desired.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen or Six Sigma concepts desired.

 

Specific Skills, Licensure and Certifications

  • Work with multiple disciplines and create solutions to meet required deadlines.
  • Develop project and daily task outlines: plan, organize, develop and implement programs, goals, objectives and procedures.

 Summer Student / Seasonal Helper

Wausau Coated Products, Inc. is looking to fill temporary summer positions to help provide vacation relief during the summer months. Students must be 18 years or older to be considered.

WORK SCHEDULE: Temporary, seasonal positions available; 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day. Ideal candidates will be available to work through August 18, 2017.

  • Winder Department (1 opening - 40 hours/week – 1st/2nd Shift Rotation)
    • Act as relief Winder Helper, duties include frequent forklift use, pulling and staging rolls and other materials for production, palletizing finished product according to customer requirements. Must be able to work a rotating shift (1st/2nd) with occasional 3rd shift or overtime hours as needed.
  • Coater Department (2 openings - 40 hours/week – 1st/2nd/3rd Shift Rotation)
    • Act as relief Coater Helper, frequent forklift use, responsibilities include pulling and staging rolls and other materials for production, returning finished product to racking, etc. Must be able to work a rotating shift (1st/2nd/3rd) with occasional overtime hours as needed.

 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Company safety policies and safety procedures

  • Provide vacation relief to assigned department
  • Maintain clean and organized work area

 Position Requirements:

Press and Converting Helper

 Under the direction of the machine operator, the Helper is responsible to keep the equipment supplied with raw materials in order to ensure equipment maintains non-stop production. The Helper is responsible to keep accurate inventories of raw materials brought to the equipment (cycle count) and test materials to ensure customer specifications are met.

 Rotating shifts:

Week 1& 2- 7:00 am- 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Week 3- 3:00 pm- 1:00 am, Monday-Thursday

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience operating a powered industrial truck is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, manuals and schedules.
  • Ability to calculate basic math figures, such as addition, subtraction, division.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Average computer skills and ability to learn Company-specific systems.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Confidence and professionalism in representing the Company.

QC/Lab Technician

The Lab Technician is responsible to ensure quality control lab testing is performed with efficiency and accuracy while following standard testing procedures, as well as ensure that pressure sensitive products being manufactured on the production coaters meets all specifications for that product.

Full-time position; 12-hour Rotating Night Schedule, 7:00 pm-7:00am

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Good computer experience.
  • Good to excellent math skills.
  • Individual initiative/assertiveness and follow-through.
  • Good record of job performance, attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to squat and lift approximately 50 lbs.
     

Coater Helper- non-rotating 12 hour shift (Day or Nights)
