Manufacturing/Process Engineer *NEW*

Synopsis: Provide leadership and project management capability to implement customer focused processes and product improvements by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement while improving employee safety.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement customer focused process/ product improvements.
  • Apply Lean/ Six Sigma principles.
  • Interact with all departments and management regarding customer application, manufacturing capabilities and production requirements for successful implementation.
  • Develop written standard operating procedures and work instructions for key processes.
  • Participate in the initial phases of new product lines to determine cost effective manufacturing.
  • Utilize statistical methods and perform analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Provide support to manufacturing personnel during implementation of improvements.
  • Drive safety improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 1-3 years applicable experience in a coating or paper converting environment desired
  • Software proficiency (MS-Office, CAD)
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean concepts
  • Proven project management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization;
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, as well as the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
