Winder Operator - 2nd Shift **NEW**

Synopsis: Maximize production on the Winder’s slitting down pressure sensitive, silicone liner, or face and liner base rolls into precise roll dimensions specified by our customers or scheduling department. Assist the Winder helper in loading rolls, making splices, and stacking rolls for shipment. Ensure quality product is being made at all times in a safe and clean environment. Review schedules and orders to ensure the rolls are run correctly, the correct product and core is used, use customer specifications to make good splices, and inspect rolls for defects
Work Schedule: Full-time positions, 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 3pm – 11pm); overtime as business demands require
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow and enforce all Company safety policies and safety procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow and enforce all Company policies, rules and regulations.
- Act as a professional representative of Wausau Coated Products, Inc. at all times.
- Check the schedule to make sure you are running the correct material.
- Make sure that slitters are set up correctly and roll is loaded correctly.
- Double check to make sure that pattern is correct on all pattern adhesive runs.
- Complete all written logs and computer data with detailed accuracy.
- Communicate with Maintenance concerning the mechanical condition of the Winder.
- Train new helpers and Operator trainees, in safe work practices and policies.
- Know how to read both decimal and fraction rulers.
- Keep area around the Winder clean. Good housekeeping.
- Attendance, relieve partner at least 10 minutes prior to shift change.
- Good attitude towards the job, overall knowledge of running the Winder efficiently.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends when scheduled.
- Willingness to work reasonable overtime on days off to help fill unscheduled absences.
- Overall knowledge of face, liner, paper curl, adhesives and silicones.
- Willingness to volunteer for projects, and provide feedback.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED is required; Associates degree in Supervision or Management is desired.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to use various equipment including, but not limited to: core tubes, core cutter, forklift and roll grab, hand carts, skids, core stabilizers, utility knives, compressed air, cut/chemical gloves, and chemical goggles.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn Company-specific systems.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to ask for help when needed.
- Willingness to learn.
- Confidence and professionalism in representing the Company.
- Willingness to be a team player.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and work well under pressure.
